Check and remove photo location and hidden data

Drop a photo to see what it reveals: where it was taken, when, and with which device. Remove what you don't want to share and download a clean copy.

What you need this for

  • Selling something online from home: listing photos can contain your address as GPS coordinates.
  • Sending photos to strangers or posting them in forums.
  • Fixing a wrong capture date before printing or archiving.

How it works

  1. Drop the photo. Read the data found: location, date, device.
  2. Choose "Remove location" – or use "Edit date and details" to change the date.
  3. Download the copy and share that instead of the original.

How we checked this

Created with a sample file in the public tool, then the downloaded file was opened separately.

Limits

  • Only supported fields in JPEG, PNG and WebP are read and removed. If a field can't be read, the page says so instead of claiming the photo is clean.
  • Many platforms strip location data themselves; messengers and email usually don't.

Questions

Does Kleinanzeigen or eBay remove the location?

Don't rely on it. Removing it yourself before uploading is the safe way.

Does removing data change the picture?

No. Only the embedded information is removed; the pixels stay the same where the format allows.

Where can I see this on my phone?

On iPhone, swipe up on the photo; on Android, open the photo details. Refentra shows all supported fields in one place.
