Why Shopify rejects the file

  1. Too many megapixels. Shopify allows up to 5,000 px × 5,000 px or 25 MP. High-resolution camera files are often larger.
  2. File size too large. Images must be smaller than 20 MB. Uncompressed PNG photos and TIFF scans exceed that easily.
  3. Unsupported format. Accepted are PNG, JPG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, SVG, HEIC, or WEBP.

How to make it fit

  1. Drop the image and read the pixel and size checks.
  2. Choose "Make it fit". Refentra reduces the pixel size and compresses until both limits are met.
  3. Upload the result to the product.

Pitfalls

  • Shopify names PNG as the best file type for most product images, followed by JPEG. For photos, JPEG is usually much smaller.
  • Don't reduce pixels more than needed: zoom on product pages shows details.

Questions
